MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JUT,Y 28, 1993 <br />Pedersen suggested the use of The Market Place Shopping <br />Center by the bridge club on a temporary basis. <br />Pedersen pointed out that the tables and chairs are <br />already available. <br />The Administrator pointed out that Johanna Meath has <br />indicated that the issue is the quality of space, and <br />suggested that shopping center facilities might fall <br />into the same category as that of the lower level of <br />the old fire station. <br />Scalze felt the issue was that the City Center is <br />already being used by other groups. <br />Pedersen suggested that the Council adopt a policy on <br />the use of the City Center. Either the City Center is <br />allowed to be used by groups or not, and if it is, <br />conditions should be set for its use. <br />Scalze suggested that the City Administrator put <br />together some options for the Council to consider. <br />Scalze felt that the Council needed to make a decision <br />on this issue. <br />LaValle pointed out that the City now has exclusive use <br />of the bottom of the old fire station. Notice should <br />be given to the groups currently using the City Center <br />that they will have to move to that facility, and the <br />bridge club can work with The Mayfield to use that <br />site. LaValle pointed out that the bridge club is a <br />senior group, and there are a lot of seniors who do not <br />drive and live at The Mayfield who would love to join <br />the bridge club. <br />Scalze indicated that at the next meeting she would <br />like to see some options for use of the City Center. <br />Scalze suggested that the City Center is either used to <br />the fullest extent possible, or not at all. Scalze <br />again indicated that the Council needs to make a <br />decision on this issue. <br />The City Administrator indicated that he would have a <br />report for the Council at their next meeting. <br />CAPITAL The City Administrator reported that the City is in <br />IMPROVEMENT definite need of a capital improvement plan, <br />PLAN specifically as relates to water main improvements. <br />The Administrator noted that the City has had some <br />requests for water main along the Gervais Lake, and <br />such a project should be coordinated with County road <br />improvements planned for 1994 or 1995. There are other <br />single-frontage roads without water main which need to <br />Page 22 <br />
