MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 13, 1993
previously which will allow for a future patch and
overlay on the road, when necessary.
TII~SPORARY Don Rue appeared before the Council and expressed
USE OF interest in the temporary use of City park property for
CITY parking for the Trane Company. Rue reported that the
PROPERTY adjacent park property consists of 19,000 square feet.
FOR PARKING The parking would be temporary in nature, would be
DON RUE leveled and crushed rock installed, which could be
restored when the use ceases.
Pedersen reported that he visited the site and saw
numerous vacant parking spaces in the Trane Company's
parking lot. Pedersen asked what the demand was for
the additional parking.
Rue reported that many Trane Company meetings need to
be held off-site due to lack of parking. Trane Company
is trying to plan for the future.
Morelan indicated that it was his understanding that
the parking area was to be paved, now Mr. Rue has
indicated crushed roc)c.
Rue replied that the parking would be surfaced however
the City wants it. If the parking would be allowed for
an extended period of time, Trane Company would have no
problem blacktopping it. At the
time of the rezoning, the City took this particular
park land as an amenity for the adjacent residential
property. Scalze believed that the property owners
have felt that the City would protect the park as well
as the residential neighborhood. Scalze noted that
this was the only park property that these residents
have direct access to. The neighbors are willing to
share the park with their industrial neighbors, but not
for use as an industrial parking lot. Scalze noted
that this is not a parking lot that can be reached by
the general public since access would be through the
Trane Company parking lot.
Scalze also noted that there is only one occupied home
on Maple Lane, and the City does not have the
opportunity to hear from those future property owners
on the use of this park. Scalze pointed out that until
Page 8
