MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />NOVEMBER 24, 1993 <br />but screening the entire property may be another matter <br />as the fencing begins to deteriorate. <br />Scalze suggested that the ordinance would have to <br />require full slats, in order to address the situation <br />where slats become broken. <br />Pedersen pointed out that the Planning Commission is <br />recommending that slatted chain-link be added to the <br />list of acceptable fencing materials, and it is the <br />City Council's job to say if this is acceptable and <br />under what conditions. Pedersen did not believe a <br />report from the Code Enforcement Officer will given the <br />Council any additional information to act on the <br />Planning Commission's recommendation. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 93-11-272 - TABLING ACTION ON THE <br />PLANNING COMMISSION'S RECOMMENDATION TO ADD SLATTED <br />CHAIN-LINK FENCING TO THE LIST OF ACCEPTABLE SCREENING <br />MATERIALS IN THE INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT, AND INSTRUCTING <br />THE BUILDING OFFICIAL TO SUBMIT A REPORT ON CODE <br />ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITIES WITHIN RYAN INDUSTRIAL PARK <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (4) LaValle, Scalze, Morelan, Aanson. <br />Nays (1) Pedersen. Resolution declared adopted. <br />VIKING DR./ The City Administrator reported that the City has <br />GILARDERI received a petition from property owners on Viking <br />WATER MAIN Drive/Gilanderi Lane requesting a water main <br />PETITION improvement. The Administrator reported that he has <br />sent a letter to the affected property owners pointing <br />out the economies of combining a water main project <br />with street reconstruction. The Administrator also <br />pointed out that the water main improvement would be a <br />difficult one to assess due to the minimal number of <br />houses effected and the fact that some of the homes <br />already have water main available. <br />Scalze asked about the need for curb and gutter on this <br />street. <br />The City Administrator pointed out that it is the <br />City's policy to require curb and gutter on street <br />reconstructions. However, this is an issue that should <br />be studied. <br />Hanson suggested that the Council accept the petition <br />at this time. Hanson also pointed out that the water <br />Page 14 <br />
