The
Administrator reported that he has asked Mr. Parker for
a list of people who are classified as bow and arrow
hunting experts for the City to consider in granting a
license. However, the DNR does not maintain such a
list and suggested that a listing could be obtained
through archery clubs or deer hunters' associations.
The Administrator reported that sharp-shooters refers
to firearms experts and not bow and arrow hunters.
LaValle reported that the City has received two
letters, one from Mr. and Mrs. Vitale and one from Mr.
and Mrs. Moravetz, both of Allen Avenue, expressing
concern with bow and arrow hunting in the City.
Hanson appreciated the concerns expressed, but pointed
out that the deer are doing damage to crops and
shrubbery.
The Public Works Superintendent reported that the deer
are damaging trees and other plantings in the City's
parks.
Hanson felt that the deer population must be
controlled, but was not sure of the best way of doing
so.
Mr. Richard Heinel, Vanderbie Street, pointed out that
at the arsenal property, the deer population was
controlled through relocation.
Page 16
