MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 23, 1993
Scalze suggested that when the Council makes the decision
on the truck purchase the revenue options should be laid
out to help in that decision-making process.
Hanson asked what the latest date was for the Council to
make a decision on the truck.
The Administrator felt that the committee wanted to place
the order in May with an anticipated delivery date of
January of 1995. The Fire Department is having problems
with the truok that they are proposing to replace. The
Administrator pointed out that the Council has to
authorize the purchase of the truck, and at that time a
plan would have to be put together for financing the
purchase.
Hanson stated that he had no problem with proceeding with
the truck purchase. Hanson also felt the City should
pursue the option of lowering the price by making a
larger down-payment. Hanson felt the need was there for
the new truck.
The Administrator asked if the truck committee should
complete its evaluation, the truck specifications, and
put the truck out for bid. The Administrator pointed out
that before a bid could be awarded, the purchase would
have to have authorization by the City Council. If
authorization was not given, the bids would have to be
rejected.
Scalze stated that she had no problem with that process,
but was not prepared this evening to authorize the
purchase of the new truck. Scalze stated that she wanted
to see the revenue stream for the purchase, and said that
she was in favor of acting on the purchase when the bids
are obtained.
Morelan pointed out that once the bids are received, the
City will know the dollars it is dealing with and a
financing plan can be worked out.
Hanson felt that if any of the Council Members were not
interested in buying a new fire truck, the truck
committee should be told to hold off on completing the
process.
Scalze stated that she would like to see the financing
options available for the purchase.
