The Administrator replied that the City's water rates are hiqh compared to surrounding cities, but Little Canada's water quality is higher than that of Vadnais Heights, for example, due to softening. Sewer rates are average to high and fairly consistent with the surrounding communities. Morelan felt that sewer and water rates were very subjective, and that almost any rate could be justified. Morelan felt that the issue got down to how the City's rates compare with those of surrounding communities. Morelan asked the amount of rate increase that is being charged by the City of St. Paul for water to Little Canada. The Administrator replied that St. Paul is passing on a 3% water rate increase. The Administrator indicated that he would present additional information on the sewer and water rate issue at the next Council meeting. BUILDING The City Administrator reported that John Palacio, the OFFICIAL City's Building Official, has submitted his resignation and is going to the City of Fridley as Chief Building Official. The Administrator reported that Palacio has done a good job for the City, pointing out the fire inspection proqram he initiated in the City's multiple- dwelling units and the fact that Palacio is well- respected in his field. The Administrator recommended that the resignation be accepted with regrets. Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 94-3-61 - ACCEPTING THE RESIGNATION OF JOHN PALACIO AS THE CITY~S BUILDING OFFICIAL WITH REGRETS The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. Ayes (5) Morelan, LaValle, Scalze, Hanson, Pedersen. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
