Right now surface water run-off is flowing off the street into the boulevard area and being absorbed. Again, the Engineer stated that the curb and gutter will have a negligible effect on water levels. Buchholz asked why curb and gutter were necessary, and felt that snow plows would have a problem with the curb and gutter. The Engineer reported that curb and gutter improves the aesthetics of an area, protects the edge of a street, thus resulting in lower maintenance costs, and gives surface water run-off a place to flow. Buchholz was concerned about the lack of maintenance on Lake Street. Buchholz reported that when the County maintained the street is was sealcoated every year. Since Little Canada has taken over the maintenance, there has been no sealcoating of the street. Buchholz reported that the City does street patching in November when summer months would be better. The Engineer reported that the City~s patching program is spread over a 3 or 4 month period. Buchholz stated that it was worthless to patch a street in November, and that is when Lake Street has been done each year. Don Demont, Lakeshore resident, reported that traffic speeds on Lakshore Avenue are a tremendous problem. Demont also pointed out that Lakeshore has a lot of bus traffic. Demont reported that he and his neighbors have had vehicles hit in attempting to get out of their driveways. Demont felt that the corners at Lakeshore Avenue/Old County Road C and Old County Road C/Jackson Street should be squared off in order to reduce traffic speeds. Demont indicated that he would also like to see stop signs at these corners.
