MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 23, 1994
The City Administrator reported that the smart van
should be in and ready to be used shortly. The
Administrator suggested that once the stop sign is
installed, the smart van can be used to monitor the
situation to see if the stop signs are helpinq.
LaValle requested that Public Works notify the
Sheriff's Department when the stop signs are up and ask
them to do some enforcement during the A.M. and P.M.
peak hours.
The Administrator asked if the Council had any other
direction to staff or information it would like to
review in order to evaluate the Lakeshore/Old County
Road C/Jackson project. LaValle acknowledged that curb and gutter
is a part of the City's requirements for an urban
section street, but suggested that each improvement
needs to be considered individually.
Hanson suggested that staff also put together some
information on the cost of a street light at Demont and
Rice Street.
Scalze asked why Lakeshore/Old County Road C/Jackson
Street was a City street. Scalze pointed out that it
is a major collector providing access to the freeway.
Pedersen pointed out that every major road has concrete
curb and gutter. Pedersen felt the City's standards
14
