MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 23~ 1994
The Commission is recommending the following fee
structure:
Single Family Dwelling $625.00
Double Dwelling $1,250.00
Multiple Dwelling Unit $312.50
Apt. Converted to Condo $312.50
Pedersen pointed out that the charge helps to defray
the cost of the City's park system.
Scalze indicated that the City~s park charge has been
below that of the surrounding cities for some time.
Therefore, she supported the increase recommended by
the Park & Recreation Commission.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 94-3-81 - INSTRUCTING THE CITY ATTORNEY
TO PREPARE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING INCREASING THE CITY'S
PARK CHARGE AS RECOMMENDED BY THE PARK & RECREATION
COMMISSION
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (3) Scalze, LaValle, Pedersen.
Nays (2) Morelan, Hanson. Resolution declared adopted.
PARK Morelan pointed out that the Park & Recreation
ACQUISITION Commission is recommending that Park Acquisition Funds
FUNDS not be used to pay for City assessments for
improvements adjacent to park property. Morelan
disagreed with that recommendation. Morelan felt the
property increased in value as a result of the
improvement, and while the improvement is not a swing
set or play area, it was an improvement to the property
nonetheless.
Pedersen pointed out that the property value does not
increase unless the property is sold.
Scalze did not believe park dedication fees should be
used to pay for road improvements. Scalze felt that if
the City has money in a closed bond fund, for example,
those funds could be used to pay the City's assessment
costs.
1s
