MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 27, 1994 <br />request. <br />LaValle felt that SA was an excellent company, and felt <br />an SA station somewhere else in the City or surrounding <br />area would be better. LaValle indicated that he could <br />not support the SA proposal because of the impact it will <br />have on existing traffic. <br />Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved <br />its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 94-4-104 - DENYING THE SUPE.RAMERICA <br />PROPOSAL FOR CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR GAS <br />STATION/CONVENIENCE STORE AT 235 EAST LITTLE CANADA ROAD <br />BASED ON THE PUBLIC OPINION STATED THIS EVENING AS WELL <br />AS THE RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE GIVEN <br />TO THE COUNCIL BY THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN WHICH INCLUDE: <br />*THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN CALLS FOR THE RESTRICTION OF <br />COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT AT STREET INTERSECTIONS; <br />*THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN CALLS FOR LIMITATION ON <br />NEIGHBORHOOD CONVENIENCE CENTERS TO THOSE INSTANCES <br />WHERE THERE IS A DEMONSTRATED MARKET SUPPORT; <br />*THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN CALLS FOR THE PREVENTION OF <br />OVERCROWDING AND OVERINTENSIFICATION OF LAND USE~ <br />*THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN CALLS FOR THE CITY TO AVOID <br />EXCESS ALLOCATION OF USE TYPES ON A COMMUNITY AS <br />WELL AS A SUBAREA, DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT BASES. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (3) Scalze, LaValle, Morelan. <br />Nays (2) Hanson, Pedersen. Resolution declared adopted. <br />Hanson pointed out that a Conditional Use Permit <br />application requires 4 votes for approval, but denial is <br />by simple majority. <br />RECESS At this point in the meeting, 9:20 P.M., Council took a <br />short recess. The meeting was reconvened at 9:35 P.M. <br />PUBLIC Hanson opened the public hearing to consider the <br />HEARING application submitted by Marie Haglund of the A& W <br />17 <br />
