MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 27, 1994
few negative comments about the stop signs, but not many.
The Administrator also reported that the crosswalk at
this intersection will be painted prior to road
reconstruction, and this should help identify the need
for the stop signs.
Morelan felt that the procedure in deciding to install
the stop signs could have been better since there are a
lot of people impacted by those signs. Morelan thought
that the matter should have been handled as a regular
agenda item.
Hanson pointed out that safety is a critical issue, and
commented that he is going to request that the smart van
be used on LaBore Road.
ROSEVILLE Scalze reported that she received a call from Janet
AREA SENIOR Crocker of the Roseville Area Senior Program asking
PROGRAM that she assist in getting a blockworker program going in
the area around St. John's Church. Scalze felt that it
was the job of the Roseville Area Senior Program to get
such a program running, but she was willing to offer her
suggestions. Scalze pointed out that the City has
budgeted $1,920 for the program with the understanding
that the program be expanded in Little Canada. Scalze
did not believe that to date anything had been done to
expand the program. Scalze also believed there was the
need for program expansion in areas of the City other
than The Mayfield. Scalze felt the seniors in The
Mayfield were connected, and it was the isolated seniors
in the City that most needed the program. One source of
information the Roseville Area Senior Program might use
is the Meals on Wheels program.
Scalze felt that the Roseville Area Senior Program will
be requesting this additional funding on an annual basis,
and that there should be a better understanding of what
the City expects for this money. Scalze felt the City,
at a minimum, should get an accounting of how the
blockworker program is working, and where the money is
being spent.
The City Administrator thought that the Roseville Area
Senior Program expected to report on the blockworker
program at the time of the budget presentation.
31
