MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 27, 1994
at Noon and 1,000 steadily each hour until approximately
3 P.M. Van Wormer reported that these figures were
compiled by the County in July of 1993. July typically
has heavier traffic counts than other months of the year.
At this point in the meeting, the Mayor opened the public
hearing up to comments from the general public.
George Zender, Country Drive resident, asked what the
traffic counts on Country Drive were.
Van Wormer replied that Country Drive counts are at about
5,000 to 6,000 per day.
Van Wormer reported that SEH also looked at on-site
circulation, and have some concerns for maneuvering of
tank and delivery trucks on the site. Van Wormer noted
that the same type of problem exists at the Sinclair
Station across the street, and Sinclair gets its
deliveries in the very early A.M. hours.
One resident stated that SEH's fiqures were assumptions
and the information should be based on actual traffic
counts. This resident reported that residents of Fluer
Royal have a very difficult time in getting out of their
property onto Little Canada Road.
Van Wormer reported that the traffic count information
used by SEH is based on actual traffic counts conducted
by Ramsey County last summer. Assumptions that were used
in so far as number of trips generated by SA, etc. were
based on fairly solid data collected at other SA
stations.
Don Kruszewski, Fluer Royal, reported on the difficulties
that Fluer Royal residents have in getting out of their
property. Kruszewski felt the additional traffic from
SuperAmerica would add to the problem. Kruszewski
pointed out that the traffic will not be controlled and
felt there would be an increase in traffic accidents in
the area.
Gene DeLonais, Planning Commission Chair, reported that
he and the Mayor discussed the SuperAmerica proposal with
the traffic engineer at Ramsey County. The engineer
informed them that there are 16,000 vehicles per day
using Little Canada Road and that figure has been
7
