MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 11, 1994
CONSENT Mr. LaVal}e introduced the following resolution and
AGENDA moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 94-5-117 - APPROVING THE CONSENT AGENDA
WHICH CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
*WAIVING FEES FOR TEMPORARY OUTDOOR SALES & DISPLAY
PERMIT AND SIGN PERMIT FOR THE CANADIAN DAYS PLANT
SALE;
*APPROVING THE VOUCHERS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Scalze, Hanson, Pedersen, Morelan.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
COMMUNITY Scalze suggested that the use of focus groups as part
SURVEY of the City survey process was a way to get additional
input into the process. Input from a focus group may
provide the City with a fresher outlook.
Morelan agreed, and felt the City may have to spend
some extra money in order to achieve the best result.
Morelan felt it important to get all the issues
identified, and felt a focus group as part of the
process would help do that.
LaValle suggested that the matter be tabled until the
City Administrator is present so that he can provide
input on the focus group option.
Pedersen suggested one focus group encompassing
representation of the various groups that may be
identified was an option.
Scalze suggested that a focus group containing
representation of groups listed on page 2 of the
Decision Resources report would be the way to go.
Morelan agreed, and stated that if it cost extra to do
a focus group in addition to the random-sample survey,
it would be well worth it.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 94-5-118 - CALLING FOR A WORKSHOP
4
