MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 11, 1994 <br />MEETING ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 25, AT 7:00 P.M. TO DISCUSS <br />THE USE OF A FOCUS GROUP AS PART OF THE CITY SURVEY <br />PROCESS, AND INSTRUCTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO MAKE <br />A RECOMMENDATION AS TO THE GROUPS TO BE REPRESENTED AT <br />THAT FOCUS GROUP AND WAYS TO IDENTIFY REPRESENTATIVES <br />OF THOSE GROUPS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan. <br />Ayes (5) Scalze, Morelan, Pedersen, Hanson, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />WORKSHOP TO It was the consensus of the Council to call a workshop <br />DISCUSS meeting to discuss Inspection Department options as <br />INSPECTION well as other service options at 6:00 P.M. prior to <br />& SERVICE the first regular City Council meeting in June. <br />OPTIONS <br />RAMSEY Hanson pointed out that Ramsey County is looking for <br />COUNTY City involvment in its strategic planning process. <br />STRATEGIC It appears that there will be fifteen committees <br />PLANNING involved in the process, and the County is asking for <br />PROCESS representation on those committees. <br />Pedersen reported that he reviewed the information <br />supplied by the County, and it appears that the City <br />Administrator and Department Heads are the prime <br />candidates to serve on these committees. <br />Morelan felt a prime consideration was the amount of <br />time that staff would have to devote to this process. <br />Hanson pointed out that the County is also seeking <br />involvement on the part of elected officials. Hanson <br />agreed that the Council should know the time commitment <br />involved before nominations could be made. <br />Morelan felt that if the timing were right, the City <br />could advertise for interested individuals in the next <br />City newsletter. <br />Pedersen felt that if the County is considering <br />integrating services, someone close to the City, such <br />as a department head, would be preferable on a <br />committee rather than a citizen-at-large. <br />Hanson suggested that the City Administrator determine <br />the time commitment involved in participation in the <br />5 <br />
