MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MAY 11, 1994 MEETING ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 25, AT 7:00 P.M. TO DISCUSS THE USE OF A FOCUS GROUP AS PART OF THE CITY SURVEY PROCESS, AND INSTRUCTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO MAKE A RECOMMENDATION AS TO THE GROUPS TO BE REPRESENTED AT THAT FOCUS GROUP AND WAYS TO IDENTIFY REPRESENTATIVES OF THOSE GROUPS The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan. Ayes (5) Scalze, Morelan, Pedersen, Hanson, LaValle. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. WORKSHOP TO It was the consensus of the Council to call a workshop DISCUSS meeting to discuss Inspection Department options as INSPECTION well as other service options at 6:00 P.M. prior to & SERVICE the first regular City Council meeting in June. OPTIONS RAMSEY Hanson pointed out that Ramsey County is looking for COUNTY City involvment in its strategic planning process. STRATEGIC It appears that there will be fifteen committees PLANNING involved in the process, and the County is asking for PROCESS representation on those committees. Pedersen reported that he reviewed the information supplied by the County, and it appears that the City Administrator and Department Heads are the prime candidates to serve on these committees. Morelan felt a prime consideration was the amount of time that staff would have to devote to this process. Hanson pointed out that the County is also seeking involvement on the part of elected officials. Hanson agreed that the Council should know the time commitment involved before nominations could be made. Morelan felt that if the timing were right, the City could advertise for interested individuals in the next City newsletter. Pedersen felt that if the County is considering integrating services, someone close to the City, such as a department head, would be preferable on a committee rather than a citizen-at-large. Hanson suggested that the City Administrator determine the time commitment involved in participation in the 5
