MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 25, 1994 <br />RESOURCES FOR A COMMUNITY SURVEY AT A COST NOT TO <br />EXCEED $8,000 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) Morelan, Scalze, Hanson, Pedersen, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />RAMSEY The City Administrator reported that the County is <br />COUNTY hoping to have its strategic plan drafted by November <br />STRATEGIC of this year, and the plan completed by the Summer of <br />PLANNING 1996. The City has been asked to identify people to <br /> serve on the various committees which will be working <br /> on the plan. The Administrator suggested that the <br /> Public Works Superintendent would be a good candidate <br /> for committees pertaining to roads, utilities, solid <br /> waste; the Parks & Recreation Director and/or a Park & <br /> Recreation Commissioner for committees dealing with <br /> park and recreation issues; the Mayor and himself for <br /> committees addressing law enforcement. The <br /> Administrator asked if any of the Council had interest <br /> in serving on any of the County's committees or knew of <br /> any individuals with expertise in any of the committee <br /> areas. If so, these names should be forwarded to the <br /> Administrator. <br />Morelan asked how much time commitment was necessary. <br />The Administrator was not sure, but estimated it to be <br />fairly substantial. The Administrator suggested that <br />names for nominations to the various committees be <br />gathered at this point. If it is determined that the <br />time commitment would be too great, the City could <br />reserve the right to decide if it wanted to participate <br />at a later date. <br />Scalze felt there would be an advantage to the City to <br />be involved in the process. <br />The Administrator felt this would be true of certain <br />committees, but the process is vague at this time. The <br />Administrator felt that the City should be prepared to <br />become involved in the process if it determines it is <br />important to the City. The Administrator reported that <br />a large time commitment was required in the County's <br />local government consolidation study, and <br />21 <br />
