MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 25, 1994 <br />wanted, and if property owners are willing to pay for <br />them. Scalze felt the issue should be reviewed by the <br />Park & Recreation Commission as well. <br />The City Administrator reported that plans and specs <br />for the Jackson/Old County Road C/Lakeshore improvement <br />should be ready for Council review at its June 7th <br />meeting. The Administrator asked if a sidewalk <br />improvement should be added as an alternate to these <br />plans and specs. ° <br />Scalze asked if the Park & Recreation Commission had <br />budgeted for the Jackson Street trail improvement. <br />The City Administrator replied that the trail <br />improvement was not budgeted. <br />Morelan suggested that rather than proceed with the <br />Jackson trail extension, that money be put towards the <br />cost of a sidewalk improvement along Lakeshore and Old <br />County Road C. <br />Scalze pointed out that the purpose of the trail <br />improvement was to get people away from the roadway. <br />Morelan indicated that the northern portion of the <br />Jackson trail did not address pedestrian traffic for <br />the property owners along Old County Road C and <br />Lakeshore. <br />Scalze felt that the northern Jackson Street trail was <br />a perfect location for a trail, and again indicated <br />that the intent was to get walkers away from the <br />dangerous corners on Lakeshore and old C. <br />Pedersen pointed out that the northern Jackson trail is <br />only slightly out of the way for the residents on <br />Lakeshore and Old C. <br />Barb Marsh, Australian Street resident, felt it was <br />dangerous for residents to walk over to Tom Thumb and <br />felt that this was a safety issue the City should <br />address. Marsh felt a sidewalk improvement on <br />Lakeshore and Old C was the way to address the problem. <br />The sidewalk would also get residents over to Nadeau <br />Wildlife Park. Marsh indicated that she would feel <br />safer walking with her children along a sidewalk than a <br />27 <br />
