MINUTES CITY COUNCIL JUNE 7, 1994 necessary. The Engineer replied that at this point plans and specs show a 5-foot sidewalk adjacent to the curb and an 8- foot trail along Jackson Street. Scalze suggested that the Park & Recreation Commission be made aware of the fact that the Council will be discussing the sidewalk/trail issue at.its June 22nd meeting. The City Administrator again pointed out the goal to have Council consider bids at its July 13th meeting so that the 1994 Street Improvement Projects have an opportunity to be completed before school begins. Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 94-6-141 - ACCEPTING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE 1994 STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY ENGINEER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THESE IMPROVEMENTS The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. Ayes (5) LaValle, Scalze, Hanson, Morelan, Pedersen. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. FIRE TRUCK The City Administrator reported that the Little Canada BIDS Fire Department has received two bids £or the purchase of a new fire truck. It appears the Fire Department will indicate they prefer the Pierce equipment for a number of reasons. The Administrator reported that the Fire Chief had some discussions with other departments at the recent State Fire School on the limited number of bids being received by various departments, and it was indicated that typically only one bid is received if the equipment specs are tied too closely to a specific manufacturer. The Administrator pointed out that the two bids are very close. If the Pierce equipment is preferred, based on the discount quoted, the Administrator recommended that payment for the fire truck be made up front. If the General equipment is preferred, it may be preferable to pay for the truck upon delivery. The two bids will be reviewed by the Fire Truck Committee, 5
