MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 7, 1994
which will have a recommendation for the Council at its
next meeting.
Hanson noted that the balance due from the Fire
Department toward the purchase of the ladder truck has
been reduced to $24,550.
The Administrator asked if the Council had any conaerns
with the purchase so that those concerns could be
addressed by the Fire Truck Committee. The bids
received are good for 30 days, therefore, the Council
will need to act on the purohase at its next meeting.
Morelan asked who would hold title to the truck.
The City Administrator felt that if the City is paying
the balance of the cost toward the truck then the City
should hold title. The Administrator stated that he
would like to see this issue resolved for all pieces of
fire equipment. The Administrator hoped that this
issue could be resolved with the addition of some
wording in the City's contract with the Fire
Department.
Morelan asked if there were any cost savings in having
the equipment in the name of one entity versus the
other.
The Administrator replied that he did not believe so,
but pointed out that the League's insurance proqram has
been pretty competitive. Therefore, there may be some
cost-savings in insuring the vehicles. The Fire
Department does have more flexibility in being able to
negotiate with vendors when seeking bids for equipment,
however. For a purchase of this size, the City would
be required to take sealed bids and to award to the
lowest responsible bidder. The Administrator pointed
out that for this truck the City would submit a check
to the Fire Department for the cost of the truck, and
the Fire Department would then write a check to the
vendor.
PHALEN The Administrator pointed out that Council Members
CHAIN OF Scalze and Pedersen, as well as Planninq Commissioner
LAKE5 Dennis Carson, served as the City's representatives
WATERSHED on the Steering Committee for the Phalen Chain of Lakes
PROJECT Watershed Project.
