MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JTII,Y 13, 1994 <br />supporting the sale of City flags to residents and <br />business owners as part of their efforts in the area of <br />community pride. <br />The City Administrator reported that an article has <br />been inserted in the City newsletter regarding the City <br />T-shirts and flags. T-shirts will be sold at a cost of <br />$7.00 each and flags are available for $35.00. The <br />Committee is also planning to have a booth available at <br />Canadian Days for the sale of these items. <br />LaValle felt that proceeds from the sale of the T- <br />shirts should be refunded to the City for the initial <br />investment, with profits then available for use by the <br />Community Pride Committee. <br />Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 94-7-175 - AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF <br />300 CITY T-SI-IIRTS AS REQUESTED BY THE COMMUNITY PRIDE <br />COMMITTEE WITI-I PROFITS FROM TAE SALE TO BE DIRECTED <br />TOWARD THE FUNDING OF COMMUNITY PRIDE ACTIVITIES <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (4) Morelan, LaValle, Hanson, Pedersen. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />LaValle suggested that the Community Pride Committee be <br />allocated a small budget for 1995. <br />The City Administrator replied that once the Committee <br />has decided on some programs it wants to undertake, the <br />Committee will likely ask for funding from the 10% <br />Fund. The Administrator pointed out that the goal in <br />selling the City T-shirts is not only to raise money, <br />but also to promote pride in the community. <br />UTILITY Morelan asked if utility lines would be buried along <br />LINES streets where road improvements are occurring. <br />The City Administrator reported that he has contacted <br />NSP about this issue, and has had no report back. <br />However, in initial discussions NSP has indicated that <br />it is not cost effective to bury utility lines since <br />property owners must then upgrade their services as <br />well as bear the cost of burying the lines.
