MINUTES CITY COUNCIL JTII,Y 13, 1994 supporting the sale of City flags to residents and business owners as part of their efforts in the area of community pride. The City Administrator reported that an article has been inserted in the City newsletter regarding the City T-shirts and flags. T-shirts will be sold at a cost of $7.00 each and flags are available for $35.00. The Committee is also planning to have a booth available at Canadian Days for the sale of these items. LaValle felt that proceeds from the sale of the T- shirts should be refunded to the City for the initial investment, with profits then available for use by the Community Pride Committee. Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 94-7-175 - AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF 300 CITY T-SI-IIRTS AS REQUESTED BY THE COMMUNITY PRIDE COMMITTEE WITI-I PROFITS FROM TAE SALE TO BE DIRECTED TOWARD THE FUNDING OF COMMUNITY PRIDE ACTIVITIES The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. Ayes (4) Morelan, LaValle, Hanson, Pedersen. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. LaValle suggested that the Community Pride Committee be allocated a small budget for 1995. The City Administrator replied that once the Committee has decided on some programs it wants to undertake, the Committee will likely ask for funding from the 10% Fund. The Administrator pointed out that the goal in selling the City T-shirts is not only to raise money, but also to promote pride in the community. UTILITY Morelan asked if utility lines would be buried along LINES streets where road improvements are occurring. The City Administrator reported that he has contacted NSP about this issue, and has had no report back. However, in initial discussions NSP has indicated that it is not cost effective to bury utility lines since property owners must then upgrade their services as well as bear the cost of burying the lines.
