MINi7TES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 13~ 1994
Pedersen asked what types of goods the business hauled.
Anderson replied that D& T Trucking has many clients
and hauls a wide variety of goods. The business is
currently located in New Brighton.
Bob Dolle, owner of D& T Trucking, reported that they
are looking to relocate the business for two reasons.
First, D& T Trucking has outgrown its current location
and, secondly, they are located in the middle of a
redevelopment district in New Brighton. They currently
have six acres in the middle of a twenty acre
redevelopment district. The proposal is to redevelop
the area with office/warehouse development.
Dolle reported that D& T Trucking does not own
tractors, but hires independent contractors to haul
their trailers. The repair facility would be used for
the repair of trailers. Tractors would only be
repaired on an emergency basis. Dolle reported that
D& T Trucking has been in business since 1961.
Morelan asked if the vast majority of the property
would be paved.
Dolle replied that all parking areas would be paved.
Scalze pointed out that trucking companies do not seem
to fit in redevelopment districts, and asked if that
was typical.
The Planner replied that trucking companies generate a
lot of traffic and potentially there are higher and
better uses of a property. Also, the amount out
outdoor storage required may not fit in a particular
redevelopment district.
Scalze pointed out that Roseville has spent a lot of
time and energy upgrading those types of areas. Scalze
was a little concerned that this development might be a
step backward rather than forward.
Anderson described the building pointing out that it
will be the corporate office headquarters for the firm.
There will not be a constant turn over of trucks at the
site, some of the trailers never returning to the site
for months at a time. Trailers will be stored at the
site either when they are not in use or in need of
18
