asking such a question on a City-wide survey. <br />Pedersen again suggested that these issues be addressed <br />through the public hearing process. <br />Remerowski felt these were valid issues for the survey. <br />Scalze felt that the use of alcohol in the park as part <br />of tournaments was an issue that needed to be <br />addressed. <br />Remerowski felt an issue with alcohol usage is whether <br />or not there were the necessary things in place, such <br />as adequate bathroom facilities. <br />Morelan suggested that the survey ask property owners' <br />feelings about whether or not the City should rent or <br />lease out City recreational facilities. <br />Scalze stated that the question should indicate that <br />this would be for events different from a family <br />reunion. Scalze felt there was a big difference <br />between family reunion-type events and tournaments <br />where alcohol is being sold. <br />Remerowski stated that he understands the concerns of <br />neighbors in not wanting too many ball tournaments, but <br />pointed out that the property had been zoned industrial <br />and neighbors would have had to put up with the <br />problems of living adjacent to industrial development. <br />Remerowski indicated that there are organizations <br />within the City which could benefit from fund-raising <br />tournaments. <br />LaValle reported that when the City purchased the <br />Pioneer Park property, ball tournament usage was a big <br />issue. At that time the City told the adjacent <br />residents that the park would be used for City <br />functions. <br />Morelan stated that the issue was whether or not to <br />raise the question in the community survey. Hanson <br />pointed out that the City can obtain input through the <br />public hearing process as well. <br />LaValle felt that any input obtained through the survey <br />would be used as a tool to support future decisions. <br />LaValle was not sure that this input would reflect what <br />the adjacent property owners want. <br />Morris sugqested that he include this question in the <br />redraft of the survey for additional discussion when <br />10 <br />
