the survey format is reviewed again. <br />Scalze pointed out that the question should deal witri <br />commercial, alcohol-based tournaments. <br />Morelan suggested that the survey ask if residents <br />favor lighting the ballfields in Pioneer Park. <br />Morris pointed out that questions 67 through 73 deal <br />with the perception of the City Council and City staff. <br />Morelan suggested that question 68 also ask if <br />residents would like to know more about the work of the <br />Mayor and City Council. <br />Morris reported that questions 74 through 93 address <br />development and redevelopment. <br />Scalze stated that a question needed to be added about <br />the future redevelopment of Rice Street. Carson <br />suggested that "hotel" be added to the list of <br />questions 78 through 89. <br />With regard to Rice Street, Morris suggested a general <br />question asking what residents would like to see if <br />they could control development along Rice Street. <br />Remerowski asked if the City should actively go out and <br />find a developer. <br />Hanson questioned whether the City was in a position to <br />purchase a large tract of property on Rice Street and <br />then court a developer. Hanson suggested that the <br />first project on Rice Street would set the tone for <br />future redevelopment projects. <br />Morelan asked if the City would have economic <br />development funds available to assist in the <br />redevelopment of Rice Street. <br />The City Administrator reported that the tools that are <br />available today, are not conducive to this type of <br />project. The Administrator pointed out that the City <br />Council would have to decide if the City were to get <br />involved in such areas as financial assistance to <br />projects as well as land assembly including <br />condemnation. <br />Davison asked if the City should speculate on property. <br />The City Administrator felt that the redevelopment of <br />Rice Street was virtually impossible without some City <br />11 <br />
