Morris felt that the <br />composite of the group was a good one. <br />Morris reported that the focus group began with <br />Decision Resources asking the individuals why they <br />moved to Little Canada. Responses included the <br />following: <br />*General Location; <br />*Investment properties; <br />*Liked apartment buildings; <br />*Closer to work; <br />*Convenient location; <br />*Small town atmosphere. <br />Morris reported that Decision Resources next asked what <br />the qroup considered to be key issues facing the <br />community. The answers included the following: <br />*Rainbow Foods is leaving; need a replacement; <br />*3 or 4 groups/families (settlers) run everything; <br />*High taxes for poor services; <br />*Council composed of fire fighters and park <br />people; <br />*Developers are not taxed properly; <br />*SChool taxes are too high; <br />*Need to consider consolidation with <br />neighboring city; <br />*NO room for further industrial development; <br />*No lots left for housing; <br />*Too high density developments; <br />*Oppose casino proposal (7 - 1) <br />-Already have pull tabs and bingo hall <br />-Reduce quality of life in Little Canada; <br />*Heavy traffic problem on Little Canada Road <br />bridge over 35E; <br />*Need senior housing, but not as a high-rise; <br />*Need major shopping center <br />-Residents go elsewhere outside of Little <br />Canada; <br />*No downtown area <br />-No community focus; <br />*Park system needs to be evaluated. <br />Finally, Decision Resources asked if there were any <br />concerns that the participants wished to convey. These <br />concerns are: <br />*"Quality of life must be improved if I am to <br />stay. ~' <br />2 <br />
