Morris pointed out that the next several questions deal
with code enforcement. The last survey showed that
about a quarter of the community felt that the City was
not tough enough in this area. The questions proposed
identify code enforcement issues specifically.
The City Administrator did not know that question 52
was a valid one since he believed there were ways for
the City to increase code enforcement without raising
property taxes. The Administrator suggested that a
question be included on whether or not property owners
would be in favor of increased code enforcement
activities.
Remerowski suggested a question asking where property
owners feel services could be cut.
Morris pointed out that question 43 asks where services
could be cut if it were needed to maintain City
services at their current level.
Remerowski sugqested a question about how City services
could be improved.
The Administrator suggested the survey ask where the
City should be spending more money, and give the
respondent some information on spending levels.
Morris stated that the budget could be condensed to 10
or 12 items, and the survey could ask where the
respondent felt cuts should be made if the budget had
to be decreased by 10%.
Morelan suggested that questions 25 through 34 should
be reworded to ask if more or less dollars should be
spent in these particular areas. Scalze suggested that
the rewording extend through question 38.
Remerowski suggested that the survey ask if there is a
place the respondent feels tax dollars are being
wasted.
The Administrator felt it would be good to know how
property owners feel budget dollars should be
allocated.
Morris again suggested a question which condenses the
budget and asks the property owners to make reductions.
Morris felt that this was a very good exercise.
It was suggested that a question be included on noise
under the list of "nuisances".
7
