With regard to questions 48 through 50, the
Administrator pointed out that the City does not have
any housing or building appearance codes. The
Administrator also suggested that areas such as wood
piles or parking should also be included in this list.
Pedersen pointed out that the appearance of a building
may be an architectural thing, and there would be
nothing the City could do about an unattractive
building.
Morelan suggested that if the survey results in a lot
of comments about the appearance of apartment
buildings, for example, the first thing the City would
do is meet with the apartment building owners.
Scalze stated that she would like the question on
apartment building appearance to remain, pointing out
that the Community Pride Committee is discussing
forming an apartment coalition.
It was agreed that question 52 should be deleted.
Morris pointed out that the next few questions dealt
with safety issues.
Morelan suggested questions on City beautification,
such as whether or not property owners feel utility
lines should be buried. Carson
indicated that the City could request that services be
buried when considering contract renewals.
With regard to questions 53 through 56 addressing
public safety, Morris suggested that an additional
question could be added asking whether property owners
were satisfied with the Sheriff's Department and
whether responses to calls were handled in a timely and
professional manner.
The Administrator pointed out that the Sheriff's
Department is planning a survey or questionnaire some
8
