MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTENSBER 14, 1994
Pedersen pointed out that when Australian is
reconstructed, the road width will not remain at 20
feet.
The City Administrator stated that the Engineer can
look at the situation and make a recommendation on the
size of the cul-de-sac for both the interim and when
the road is reconstructed. The Administrator felt that
it may be necessary to plan for a modification of the
area where the cul-de-sac connects to the road, given
that Australian would probably be reconstructed wider
than the existing 20 feet. The Administrator suggested
that storm sewer may also be an option at this time.
It may be better to construct our final product at this
time rather than a temporary solution now and a
permanent later when total costs are considered. We
will evaluate our options in this regard as well.
It was pointed out that a cul-de-sac improvement at the
end of Australian will likely impact three properties
and probably a fourth.
Hanson pointed out that the right-of-way for Jackson
Street is 33 feet wide. Should the City decide to
improve that street, an additional 17 feet of right-of-
way would be required. Hanson indicated that the City
would not want to take right-of-way from the property
to the east which would result in a corner lot less
than 11,000 square feet in size.
The Administrator felt that the City Engineer's
analysis of the situation would address these issues as
well as raise additional questions.
PARKKEEPER The City Administrator reported that the starting wage
POSITION for the Parkkeeper position is recommended at $10.50 to
$11.50 per hour depending on qualifications. The
Administrator pointed out that the position description
and pay scale have been included in the Council's
agenda packet for their review.
The Public Works Superintendent reported that the City
has received 77 applications for the position. Some of
the applicants are very highly qualified. The
Superintendent reported that he and the Parks &
Recreation Director will review the top candidates and
put together some interview questions.
8
