MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTENIBER 28, 1994
and 1993, the Public Works Superintendent indicated
that Nadeau would have competed very well against the
candidates considered at those times. It was noted
that Nadeau was not a candidate in those hirings.
LaValle asked if a part-time person would be hired to
fill Nadeau's job.
The City Administrator reported that the part-time
position would be eliminated. Seasonal workers would
be utilized for part-time work.
Morelan reported that he discussed the matter at length
with the City Administrator, and felt the
recommendation was the right thing to do and equitable
for both the employee and the City. Morelan felt that
if the City has a proven employee, that employee should
be hired. Morelan felt there was nothing to be gained
by advertising the position.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 94-9-341 - HIRING MERRI NADEAU AS A
FULL-TIME PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEE AS RECOMMENDED BY THE
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (5) Scalze, Morelan, Hanson, LaValle, Pedersen.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
INTERN The City Administrator recommended the hiring of an
POSITION intern to take over code enforcement duties. With the
resignation of the full-time Buildinq Official there
are a backlog of code violations that need to be
addressed. The Administrator recommended the intern
position be filled for the balance of 1994 and 9 month
of 1995. After that, the position could be active for
6 months each year.
The Administrator recommended hiring an intern who is
in a Public Administration Master Programs at one of
the local educational institutions. If this avenue is
not successful, the Administrator recommended
advertising the position.
19
