MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVgItBER 9, 1994
property owners.
Morelan suggested that a letter be sent to the property
owners to determine their feelings on the improvement,
and whether or not they would be willing to participate
in the cost.
The Administrator suggested that if a survey is to be
sent to the property owners, that he have the City
Engineer put together some firmer numbers and break
down the cost on a per lot basis. The property owners
could also be asked which option they prefer given the
cost involved.
LaValle suggested that the Engineer also obtain prices
for terracing the area with timbers. LaValle felt that
the cost of a keystone wall system seemed too hiqh.
Desai reported that he has given a copy of his letter
to about half of the Dianna Lane property owners.
Desai reported that it was his sense that most of the
property owners were interested in a wall system, and
there is concern about the safety of the existing wall.
Desai stated that he pays for improvements done on his
property and feels that the City should pay for
improvements on their property.
Scalze stated that she felt a keystone wall system with
a chain-link fence on top of it would be ugly.
Therefore, she preferred a natural sloped area.
However, the neighborhood may have a different opinion
on the matter.
Desai suggested that the Dianna Lane property owners be
asked which option they prefer.
Pedersen suggested that the City pay for whatever
improvement option costs the least amount of money. If
the Dianna Lane property owners prefer another option,
they should pay the additional cost.
Desai pointed out that there are only about four homes
in reasonable proximity to the entrance area. Desai
felt that the type of improvement that would be done
was a decision that the City Council must make.
Hanson stated that the City must eliminate the safety
problem which exists solely on City property.
14
