MIN~PES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVII'4BER 29, 1994
The Council noted that if for some unforeseen reason,
the $2,000 is needed, Canadian Days would be aware of
this by mid-1995, and it would be likely that the City
could adjust its budget to provide the funding.
The Administrator pointed out that he has recalculated
the estimate of General Fund Reserve and at this point
it appears that $16,366 could be transferred to the
Capital Improvement Fund. These are estimates,
however, and subject to change.
Morelan asked how the Administrator projected building
permit revenues.
The Administrator replied that he looked at 1994
revenues as well as building permit revenue history
over the past few years, tying into the lowest years.
Also considered is the D& T Trucking Development as
well as the townhome development proposed by Gordie
Howe on Minnesota Avenue. There are also projects
planned at Little Canada Elementary School and
Roseville Area Middle School during 1995. Using all
this data in a conservative manner, the 1995 building
permit revenue was estimated. The Administrator
pointed out that building inspection expenses were tied
to this data, including an additional $1,200 for hourly
work which might be necessary during 1995.
Morelan asked if the City increases plumbing permit
fees at the same time electrical and mechanical fees
were increased.
The City Administrator replied that some of the
plumbing permit fees were increased, however, they are
reflected in the mechanical permit fee projections.
Morelan asked about the increase in Contracted Services
expense for police protection.
The Administrator replied that the dispatcher contract
was recently settled at an additional cost of $3,100 to
the City. The approximately 10% increase in the cost
of police protection includes this contract settlement
amount, the cost of an additional officer, as well as a
contract increase. The Administrator reported that the
Sheriff's Department has submitted applications for
some Federal grant dollars which are available as part
of the Crime Bill. Should these grants be approved,
3
