MINiPPES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />DECII"IBER 21, 1994 <br />Howe replied that the townhomes would have brick <br />fronts. <br />Morelan asked if Howe had reviewed the recommendations <br />of the City Planner as well as those of the City <br />Engineer. <br />Howe replied that he had and would work with both the <br />Planner and Engineer to comply with their <br />recommendations. Howe explained that he is proposinq a <br />cobblestone street entry-area to the townhome <br />development. Howe also explained the street system <br />proposed for the development, reporting that the street <br />would be a private one maintained by the townhome <br />association. Howe explained landscaping for the <br />development which includes an evergreen buffer from the <br />U.S. Swim & Fitness property as well as boulevard trees <br />consisting of oak, ash and maple. Howe reported that <br />the two existing homes on Minnesota Street will be torn <br />down and the property incorporated in the townhome <br />project. 19 double units are proposed for a total of <br />3S individual townhome units. <br />The City Planner reported that the redesign of the plat <br />does a good job of accommodating some of his concerns <br />addressed in his report. <br />Scalze asked if the entire private street system would <br />be cobblestone. <br />Howe replied that only the first 10 to 20 feet of the <br />private street would be cobblestone to provide an entry <br />identification for the development. <br />Bill Eagan asked where the two existing homes are <br />located in relation to the plat. <br />Howe described their location on the south side of <br />Minnesota Street. <br />The Public Works Superintendent reported that he would <br />have concern with the cobblestone if the street were a <br />public one which the City would be responsible for <br />plowing. <br />Howe reported that the street would be private, thus <br />maintained and plowed by the townhome association. <br />5 <br />
