MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 11~ 1995
that this issue has again been discussed at a
neighborhood meeting last month, and the neighbors,
with the exception of Mr. and Mrs. Magnuson, support
improvement of cul-de-sacs rather than improvement of
Jackson Street.
Fahey reported that he asked the City Administrator to
put the item on the agenda for this evening's meeting
to determine if there is additional information which
should be gathered prior to the next Council meeting.
Fahey noted that under the ordinance, the action of the
Council on this issue must be unanimous since Council
Member Morelan will abstain from any vote on it.
Fahey asked if a 50 foot right-of-way were required for
Jackson Street, if Mr. Tima would have adequate
property left to develop two lots without the need for
a variance. Fahey pointed out that the Council has not
approved a substandard street except for Valento Lane.
The section of Valento connecting to LaBore Road has
less than a 50 foot right-of-way, and this was done
because the City wanted a through street to LaBore
Road.
Fahey pointed out that the options of a 40 foot right-
of-way for Jackson Street and sub-standard cul-de-sacs
at the end of Australian and Bluwood would both require
variances.
Pedersen pointed out the information from the City
Planner that the 50 foot right-of-way would allow Mr.
Tima to divide his property without need for a
variance.
The Administrator indicated that the Planner's report
is very preliminary and the information will be
verified once Mr. Tima makes application for a lot
split and the City has more accurate information to
work with.
Scalze suggested that the Planner's information be
verified prior to the next meeting. Scalze pointed out
that the Council's intent was for staff to gather
information and the matter to again be discussed on
January 25th.
Fahey stated that he asked the City Administrator to
put the matter on the agenda this evening in the event
10
