MINUTES CITY COUNCIL JANIJARY 11, 1995 Fahey suggested that the City obtain the cost of a street with a 50 foot right-of-way. Scalze pointed out that the street would be 28 feet wide whether the right-of-way is 40 feet or 50 feet. Scalze pointed out that the City needs the true cost of the cul-de-sac option including costs in the event that condemnation proceedings are necessary. Scalze pointed out that at the last meeting the motion asked for costs of a 45 foot cul-de-sac with equal taking from the abutting properties. Fahey pointed out the City Administrator's report comparing sizes of some existing cul-de-sacs in the City. Scalze suggested that the Administrator include the Savage Lane cul-de-sac in that comparison. The City Administrator reported that the purpose of his report was to determine the minimum size cul-de-sac which would accommodate the majority of trips in the neighborhood. Scalze reported that it is her understanding that garbage trucks currently back down Australian Avenue from Lakeshore and she was concerned about the safety of that practice. However, she knows that garbage trucks turn around at the end of Twin Lake Trail. Fahey pointed out that at the last meeting information was asked for on only one cul-de-sac width, and felt that more flexibility was needed in the information provided to the Council. Fahey stated that on January 25th, he would like information on the impact of various cul-de-sac widths as well as street right-of- way widths. 5calze stated that the driving force in this matter is Mr. Tima wishes to divide his property. Gary Kajalski reported that Mr. Tima will be filing an application for a lot split within the next few days. Fahey stated that at the next meeting he would like to know Mr. Tima's position on a 50 foot right-of-way for Jackson 5treet. 12
