MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 18, 1995
improvement, but at some point the City Council will
have to discuss it and take a position.
The City Administrator reported that the County has
been surveying in the area to get a better definition
of tree impact and drainage. Typically projects such
as this are field designed, with the County making
things fit. The County will take into consideration
the Council's position on the issue. The Administrator
reported that typically the County will just put in a
project, however, in this instance the City asked for
an informational meeting.
One property owner stated that they felt the water main
project and road project were tied together, and that
the water main project gave the County more reason to
widen the Keller Parkway pavement.
A property owner indicated that there are a lot of
brand new wells along Keller Parkway, and asked how it
was determined that the majority of the property owners
wanted water.
One property owner indicated that at the neighborhood
meeting about eight of the ten property owners present
indicated that they wanted water if the road
improvement proceeds.
Fahey asked how many of those present favored a water
main project if the road goes in. Five indicated that
they favored water main if the road project proceeds,
and four indicated that they were against.
One property owner felt it a possibility that the water
main project gives the County more reason to proceed
with the road project.
Scalze replied that the water main project has nothing
to do with the size of the street.
Fahey indicated that realistically the County will not
just resurface the existing pavement, but will upgrade
it to make it wider and safer. Fahey pointed out that
there is a need for a walkway or paved shoulder for
bikes and pedestrians. Whether the width ends up to be
32 feet, he was not sure.
Cardinal pointed out that there are only 40% of the
21
