MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 18, 1995
would be a nuisance for the County since they would
have to coordinate the installation of the water main
with the road improvement.
Fahey stated that he did not believe the County would
simple repave the existing road. Fahey felt the
question was what can everyone live with as far as the
road project goes.
The City Administrator reported that City had asked the
County for a time commitment on the road improvement so
that it could coordinate a water main project at the
same time. The County has responded with a 1995
timetable for the road improvement. The City also
requested that the County hold an informational meeting
for property owners on Keller Parkway.
A property owner asked the Council their position on
the road improvement.
Fahey replied that he would like more information
before he gives the County his input on the road
design.
The City Administrator pointed out that there would be
no assessment to the abutting properties for the road
improvement. There could be an assessment for shoulder
paving should the County pass a portion of this cost on
to the City. If so, the City would conduct an
assessment hearing. A previous shoulder improvement
was assessed at approximately $1.30 per front foot.
Scalze pointed out that the County has the right to
improve the road in the manner they feel is in the best
interests of public safety.
The Administrator felt that the County will balance
their interests with those of the property owners.
One property owner pointed out that in a previous
meeting there were no Keller Parkway property owners
interested in seeing the road widened.
John Radford, Keller Parkway property owner, pointed
out that the purpose of the meeting this evening is to
talk about the water main improvement. Radford stated
that he would join the other Keller Parkway property
owners on the issue of the road improvement to be
23
