MINiJTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 8, 1995
AUSTRALIAN/ The City Administrator reported that he has a meeting
BLUWOOD scheduled for Friday with Mr. Tima as well as Mr. and
RIGIiT-OF-WAY Mrs. Magnuson to discuss right-of-way issues with
UPDATE reqard to a cul-de-sac at the end of Australian Avenue.
Fahey stated that it was his feeling that taking all of
the right-of-way for the Australian cul-de-sac from the
Morelan property even with a variance for house
placement was a substantial impact on that property.
Fahey felt that, at a minimum, the Morelan property
should not be in a worse position than it is now.
Taking all of the right-of-way from that one property
and then requiring compliance with setbacks would have
a substantial impact on the lot.
The City Administrator reported that vacation of the
Jackson 5treet right-of-way would not help the front
yard setback for the Morelan property. The
Administrator felt there appears to be workable
solutions to taking all of the right-of-way from the
Morelan property.
CALL FOR
WORKSHOP TO
DISCUSS
RICE STREET/
LITTLE CANADA
ROAD
REDEVELOPMENT
Pedersen felt it possible to fit a standard-sized house
on the Morelan property even with the taking of the
right-of-way from that lot.
The Administrator agreed, but pointed out that the
right-of-way would limit the flexibility in the style
of house which could be built. The Administrator
reported that the door has not been closed to that
option, but felt the City owed it to the Morelan's to
consider other options as well. The Administrator
reported that he would meet with the other property
owners mentioned earlier and report back to the Council
at the next meeting.
The Council discussed the need to have a workshop to
discuss redevelopment potential in the Rice Street/
Little Canada Road area. The Administrator suggested
that he have the City Planner and Fiscal Advisor
attend the workshop.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
10
