MINi7TES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 8, 1995 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 95-2-46 - CALLING FOR A WORKSHOP FOR <br />WEDNESDAY~ FEBRUARY 15, 1995 AT 7:00 P.M. TO DISCUSS <br />REDEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL OF THE RICE STREET/LITTLE <br />CANADA ROAD AREA <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Scalze, Pedersen, Morelan, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />RUTH STREET- Morelan asked the status of additional street lighting <br />STREET along Ruth Street. <br />LIGHTING <br />The Public Works Superintendent reported that he would <br />contact NSP to determine this status and report back to <br />the Council. <br />KELLER Fahey pointed out the City Administrator's suggestion <br />PARKWAY that the basic feasibility of turning Keller Parkway <br />ROAD into a one-way street be studied. Fahey stated that <br />IMPROVEMENT he was not in favor of turning the street into a one- <br /> way street. Fahey also pointed out that the <br /> improvement of paved shoulders along Keller Parkway has <br /> been in discussion with the County for a number of <br /> years. In 1988 the City conducted a community survey, <br /> the results of which indicated that 67% of property <br /> owners favored a walkway around Gervais even if such <br /> improvement would require a tax increase. Fahey stated <br /> that the Council is aware that there are many property <br /> owners not interested in paved shoulders around the <br /> lake. These property owners also have concern for tree <br /> loss, etc. Fahey felt that before a final decision is <br /> made, there should be a meeting so that interested <br /> residents have an opportunity to address the City <br /> Council. However, Fahey indicated that he did not want <br /> to spend money widening a gravel shoulder if the City <br /> Council is of the opinion that a paved shoulder is <br /> preferable. Fahey also pointed out that the neighbors <br /> are interested in looking at the option of a separate <br /> paved path and a narrower road mat. <br />The City Administrator felt it would be possible to put <br />together some diagrams showing trie impact of a <br />separated path without a great deal of effort. The <br />Administrator reported that the County has indicated to <br />him that the one-way road is not viable from their <br />standpoint. The County does not want to turn Keller <br />11 <br />
