MINI7TES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 8, 1995
if the path were separated.
Morelan pointed out that there is 66 feet of right-of-
way for Keller Parkway. There may be a way to improve
a separated path within the right-of-way and avoiding
the trees.
The Administrator pointed out that the County's
proposal is for 2 twelve-foot driving lanes and 2
three-foot gravel shoulders. If the path were
separated from the road, the amount of separation as
well as the width of the path would have to be
determined.
Pedersen did not believe it would be possible to put in
a separated path without a lot of cutting and filling.
Pedersen felt the City should take a preliminary look
at the feasibility, however.
Scalze pointed out that the right-of-way may not fall
exactly where everyone thinks it does.
The Administrator reported that the County has drawn
cross-sections of the area, and it should be fairly
easy to lay out a separated path and 22-foot paved
roadway with gravel shoulders within the right-of-way
to determine the impact. The Administrator pointed out
that during the neiqhborhood meeting there was
discussion of just a narrow separation between the path
and road. Various options can be considered.
The Administrator reported that in talking to the
County it sounds like the agreements for shoulder
paving will be available for the next Council meeting.
The Administrator suggested that staff have the path
option information available as well for the Council to
consider. Keller Parkway property owners, as well as
others who attended the informational meeting, will be
invited to attend.
Scalze and Pedersen suggested that the path needed to
be 8 feet in width to accommodate two-way traffic, as
well as to accommodate plowing during the winter.
5calze felt that the one-way option should be
eliminated. Fahey pointed out that the City of
Maplewood would have to agree to that option to make it
viable. Pedersen stated that it is becoming clear that
14
