MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 24, 1995
data collection; the second will be focused on gaining
the public's objectives for the process. Three
additional workshop meetings will be held as well. It
is the participation at those workshop that is yet to
be determined. The next workshop will be held in June,
and the vision for the Rice Street/Little Canada area
will be discussed at that workshop. Another workshop
will be held in July at which concepts and strategies
for moving the plan forward will be discussed. The
last workshop will focus on input on the plan itsel£.
In September a final presentation of the plan will be
made.
Scalze asked if the steering committee would be
required to meet more often than the six meetings
Fifield described.
Fifield stated that should it be determined that the
City Council is the steering committee, administrative
details could be addressed during regular City Council
meetings.
Fahey pointed out that the workshops described by
Fifield will be open to the public. Schroeder
suggested that the meetings be recorded and rebroadcast
later.
Morelan asked the duties of the steering committee and
how often it would be required to meet.
Fifield replied that it is difficult to say what the
duties would be. The steering committee would be there
if the consultants get stuck. Fifield stated that he
was comfortable with the Council's role as steering
committee and having broader participation at the
workshops.
Schroeder pointed out that the workshops are very
important for the consultants in formulating insights.
Therefore, it is very important that participation be
consistent throughout the process by at least a core
2
