MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 10, 1995
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 95-5-125 - DECLARING THAT AT THE TIME OF
RECONSTRUCTION OF BLUWOOD AVENUE, THE CUL-DE-SAC SIZE
AT THE END OF THE STREET WILL CONSIST OF A 45 FOOT
RADIUS RIGHT-OF-WAY AND A 40 FOOT RADIUS PAVEMENT AREA
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fahey.
Ayes (4) Scalze, Fahey, Pedersen, LaValle.
Nays (o).
Abstentions (1) Morelan. Resolution declared adopted.
KELLER Fahey reported that the City has received
PARKWAY correspondence from the City Administrator which
UPDATE indicates that the City of Maplewood has approved the
improvement of Keller Parkway within their City with
two 11-foot driving lanes and two 3-foot paved
shoulders. Little Canada has approved two 11-foot
driving lanes and two 5-foot paved shoulders. Fahey
pointed out that the City's action addressed Keller
Parkway from Little Canada Road to Arcade Street. The
County is asking for clarification of the City's
position on Keller Parkway which lies within Little
Canada from County Road C to County Road B-2.
Scalze reported that she measured several areas where
striped shoulders exist. In all cases the driving
lanes were at least 12 feet wide with at least 5 foot
paved shoulders. In some cases the paved shoulders
were 6 feet in width. The areas measured were along
Keller Parkway lying between County Road C and County
Road B-2, and included the bridge area over Highway 36,
the area north of the bridge, the Kohlman bridge, the
area north of the Kohlman bridge, Keller Parkway north
and south of County Road B-2. Scalze reported that
even the Spoon Lake bridge consists of two 11-foot
drivinq lanes and two 3 1/2 foot paved shoulders.
Scalze noted that comments have been made that the
width of the Spoon Lake bridge is inadequate.
Scalze felt that to be consistent with its previous
action, the City should approve 5-foot paved shoulders
on the lake side of Keller Parkway between County Road
C and County Road B-2. This would be consistent with
the 6 1/2 foot wide paved shoulders which exist along
Edgerton Street.
Pedersen asked if the County will stripe 5 foot paved
shoulders on the Little Canada side of Keller Parkway
and 3 foot shoulders on the Maplewood side.
6
