MINUTES CITY COUNCIL SEPTII+IBER 7, 1995 that this was initially a one-year position, but is currently on its third year. The Administrator recommended elimination of the position. Council agreed. The Administrator recommended elimination of the City's membership with Metro East Development Partnership. While the City has a moral obligation to be a member, the direct benefits to Little Canada are questionable. Council agreed to eliminate the membership. The Administrator reported that the budget includes the Administrative Assistant position at full time. An option would be to retain the position at 900. The Administrator suggested takinq this issue under advisement in that he would not be comfortable eliminatinq this option for 1996. The Council agreed to take this option under advisement for the time being. Another option is reducing the City's contribution to the Fire Relief Association from $18,000 to $14,872. This would allow for an increase in pension benefit levels from $2,050 to $2,100. Fahey pointed out that there is a 3-year calculation when a decrease in fundinq impacts the funding level. Morelan stated to allow for growth in the fund, the City must contribute more than just the required contribution. Fahey suggested that the Council take additional time to analyze this option before acting on it. The Administrator suggested that the $1,000 budget amount under community service for senior citizens could be decreased to $500 since there have not been specific uses for this money. Council agreed. Fahey pointed out that the City's recreation fees are lower than other cities.
