MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTII~SBER 13, 1995
Schroeder stated that the biggest hinderance to
relocation of Market Drive is the location of the Gene
DeLonais house. Schroeder indicated that the City has
an unwritten agreement with Mr. DeLonais that he will
be allowed to remain on his property as lonq as he
wants to. Schroeder felt that the relocation of the
street could be put off without hindering the
redevelopment of Market Place.
Pedersen suggested that Market Drive could jog around
the DeLonais property. Once that property is
available, the road could be straightened, and the
existing pavement become parking area for the Market
Place.
The City Administrator pointed out that that would
involve land transfers. There may be greater
discussion of this topic at the September 27th
workshop.
Joe Vitale questioned the Council's acting on the plan
this evening without any input from area businesses.
Fahey replied that while the City may approve some of
the implementation steps this evening, the plans is not
being adopted. Fahey pointed out that one of the steps
is to authorize staff to begin negotiating with the
developer of the Market Place. Fahey stated that he
saw no reason not to proceed with that direction.
At this point in the meeting, 8:30 P.M., Council took a
short recess in order that additional copies of
materials could be made for the general public present.
The meeting was reconvened at 8:40 P.M.
The next step discussed was "Use the Development Guide
to shape the plans for the reconstruction of Little
Canada Road".
Fahey pointed out that the consulting group wants more
direction on the relocation of Little Canada Road as
part of its reconstruction. The question that needs to
be answered is where will the County place the roadway
in relation to the right-of-way. To move the road to
the north will affect the parking lot of Round Lake
Plaza. Fahey also pointed out the action step calling
for acquisition of properties along Round Lake if
Little Canada Road is located more to the south.
Scalze reported that the public connection already
exists to Round Lake given that there is both County
8
