MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 27, 1995
Fahey stated that he had no interest in putting a park
on the Maplewood border.
Morelan suggested that if a park was developed on the
sculley property it would not be without cost to
Maplewood. If the area develops in a way that would
necessitate a park, Morelan suggested that the City
look at some shared use with Maplewood.
Fahey stated that since the consensus of the Council is
that there is no interest in the proposal at this time,
he directed staff to send Maplewood a letter informing
them of this.
DON RUE Council reviewed the request of Mr. Don Rue to purchase
REQUEST TO the City's property adjacent to his land in Yorkton
PURCHASE Industrial Park. The City Administrator pointed out
CITY that the Park & Recreation Commission has indicated
PROPERTY that should a neighborhood park be developed in this
area, that park be located on the McNamara property
along Jackson Street rather than on the trapezoid-
shaped piece adjacent to the Rue property.
Scalze suggested that the neighborhood be notified that
the City is considering this. Scalze pointed out that
the developer may have told the homeowners that a park
would be developed on this trapezoid-shaped parcel.
The City Administrator pointed out that the City did
not notify residents of the potential sale of City
property to the Denery property developers.
Scalze noted that the City will be acquiring a large
piece of park land from the Denery development.
Therefore, she felt the situation was different.
Scalze also pointed out that the 30 foot strip of park
land that connects Jackson Street to the trapezoid
piece.
Morelan suggested that should the City decide to sell
the trapezoid piece, a walkway easement be retained
connecting Jackson Street to the Water Works property.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 95-9-226 - DIRECTING STAFF TO SURVEY THE
RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY OWNERS IN THE AREA REGARDING THE
POTENTIAL SALE OF THE TRAPEZOID PARCEL TO MR. DON RUE,
INDICATING THAT THE CITY WOULD RETAIN A WALKWAY
EASEMENT FROM JACKSON STREET TO THE WATER WORKS
15
