MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 24, 1995
Residents noted that there are usually school buses
backed up at that intersection.
The Administrator suggested that there may be another
opportunity to look at this issue again. That is when
the State turns back Rice Street to the County.
Morelan stated that he had no doubt that a traffic
light at Demont and Rice Street would help, but pointed
out that the cost was an issue.
Fahey stated that he would like more information on the
matter. Fahey asked if the State's position on the
stop light was due to its cost or because the State
felt the light would not help.
The Administrator reported that he will provide the
Mayor and Council with a copy of the State's report on
the matter. He also noted that cost wasn't the
determining factor. The State has standards by which
they evaluate the placement of lights and this
intersection did not meet these.
one resident of the area indicated that there are a lot
of children coming out of driveways onto old County
Road C. That resident stated that the street is not a
place for children to play. The resident also
suggested that the Jackson Street trail should have be
extended to Tom Thumb. There is currently no place
along the street for people to walk.
Mr. Engebretson reported that there are a lot of semi's
and delivery trucks driving through the area to get to
the condos. Engebretson asked if these trucks could be
prohibited.
Scalze suggested that weight limitations could be
posted on the street.
Morelan pointed out that he lives in the area and has
not seen semi's on the street.
The Administrative Assistant read the list of names of
those property owners who submitted written objections
to their assessments:
F. H. Ballinger, 2691 Lakeshore;
John A. Bibeau, 2666 Lakeshore;
David & Jennifer Onnen, 2718 Lakeshore;
Douglas & Jan McMillan, 2677 Lakeshore;
Paul & Jacqueline Martin, 2733 Lakeshore;
13
