MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
J2\NUARY 10, 1996
Olsen Theilen's indication that they would like to
build municipal auditing into their business, and the
fact that Olsen Theilen is a local accounting firm.
The City Administrator reported that he has informed
Tautges Redpath of his recommendation. The
Administrator reported that Dennis Carson of Olsen
Theilen has indicated the £irm~s commitment to branch
into the municipal auditing field. This is the basis
for the recommendation. The Administrator also
indicated that a three year commitment would have been
necessary if a new firm was awarded the audit based on
the fact that there are additional costs associated
with a new client. However, this is not the case here
since Tautges Redpath has done the City's auditing for
a number of years.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 96-1-12 - AMENDING THE TERM OF THE AUDIT
CONTRACT WITIi TAUTGES REDPATH FROM TIiREE YEARS TO ONE
YEAR BASED ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE CITY
ADMINISTRATOR AS OUTLINED IN FiIS MEMO DATED JANUARY 5,
1996
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Pedersen, Morelan, Fahey.
Nays (O). Resolution declared adopted.
COUNCIL Fahey reported that the salaries of the Mayor and City
SALARIES Council Members have not been increased for ten years.
Fahey also pointed out that based on a survey of the
surrounding communities, on average these salaries are
$35 per month lower. Fahey reported the City
Administrator's recommedation was to increase the Mayor
and Council's salaries by $35 permonth effective
January 1, 1997 since Mayor and Council salary
increases are subject to the election in November.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 96-1-13 - INCREASING THE SALARIES OF THE
MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS BY $35 PER MONTI-I EFFECTIVE
JANUARY 1, 1997
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fahey.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Fahey, Scalze, Morelan, Pedersen.
Nays (0).
