Resolution declared adopted.
1996 LEGAL Fahey reported that the City has received two quotes
NEWSPAPER for legal newspaper designation. Fahey reviewed the
DESIGNATION Administrative Assistant's memo dated January 4, 1996
comparing the quotes received from the Little Canada
Press and Roseville Review, and recommending that the
Roseville Review be designated as the City's legal
newspaper for 1996.
Paul Wahl, Little Canada Press, reported that they have
been the City~s legal newspaper for many years, and the
relationship has been mutually beneficial. Wahl stated
that they believe they have done a good job for the
City pointing out that they cover City Council meetings
as well as many other City events. The Little Canada
Press believes it has been responsible and responsive
and a community builder. Wahl pointed out that a small
community struggles to maintain its sense of identity.
Having a newspaper called the Little Canada Press is an
important aspect. Wahl pointed out that the entire
front page is devoted to Little Canada news. The
Little Canada Press is circulated to every home in
Little Canada. Twice per year the Press does have a
voluntary pay drive. Wahl urged the Council to retain
the Little Canada Press as its official newspaper.
Fahey pointed out that the quote submitted by Roseville
Review is approximately $1,400 lower than that
submitted by the Little Canada Press. Fahey asked if
the Little Canada Press bid would stand as submitted.
Wahl replied that it would.
Scalze pointed out that a couple of years ago the
official newspaper designation was given to the
Roseville Review. That decision was based on dollars.
2
