MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 14, 1996 <br />COST ESTIMATES FOR THE OLD FIRE STATION RENOVATION <br />WHICH WOULD INCLUDE TI3E USE OF THE UPPER LEVEL AS A <br />STORAGE FACILITY, AND TI-IE USE OF THE LOWER LEVEL AS AN <br />ASSEMBLY AREA, AND INSTRUCTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR <br />TO SOLICIT ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE PROJECT <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen. <br />Ayes (5) Morelan, Pedersen, Scalze, LaValle, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />5HELTER Scalze suggested that the Shelter Committee report <br />COMMITTEE be forwarded to the Parks & Recreation Commission for <br />REPORT review and comment prior to any decisions being made by <br />the Council. <br />Fahey pointed out that Pat Ables represented the Parks <br />& Recreation Commission on the Shelter Committee. <br />Ables indicated that construction of a new park shelter <br />in Spooner Park was O.K. provided that the existing <br />Spooner Park shelter is moved to Pioneer Park at the <br />same time. <br />Morelan agreed that Ables indicated this plan was <br />acceptable, although not the first choice of the <br />Commission. <br />The City Administrator stated that that was his <br />recollection as well. Ables had expressed that the <br />Commission's biggest concern was that the Pioneer Park <br />shelter would be delayed because of the expense of a <br />new shelter in Spooner Park. <br />Morelan pointed out that the Shelter Committee would <br />like construction on the new Spooner Park shelter to <br />begin after Canadian Days. Morelan suggested that the <br />Council move forward with design of the shelter. In <br />the meantime, the Parks & Recreation Commission can be <br />asked for their comments. <br />Scalze asked if funding would be in place for the new <br />shelter after Canadian Days. <br />Fahey reported that he received a letter from Lake <br />Owasso indicating that they would be interested in <br />making some of the projects the City is planning <br />realities. Fahey suggested that if the City moves <br />forward aggressively seeking funding support, that <br />11 <br />
