MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 28, 1996
the Land Use Plan, the mobilehome parks should be
rezoned to Residential, and is the City then prepared
for the ramifications which might result from this
action.
The Planner suggested perhaps the City will not rezone
these areas immediately, but rather wait until a
petition is received, and then use the Comp Plan to
determine whether or not to proceed based on the Plan.
Fahey suggested if the Land Use Plan is an indication
of how land should be used and it is shown as
residential in the Plan, but zoned Commercial, is the
City risking that someone will come in and propose a
commercial development.
The Planner agreed this is a risk the City would run.
Fahey stated he was not sure he would want to rezone a
property from how it is currently being used.
Morelan stated he foresaw the City rezoning very few
properties, if any. Morelan pointed out that depending
on what develops in the areas surrounding the
mobilehome parks, perhaps Residential zoning doesn't
work and Commercial does.
Fahey asked why the City should rezone properties
except for those where it is very clear a rezoning is
necessary.
Scalze again stated she had questions on some of the
recommendations.
RECESS At this point in the meeting, 8:30 P.M., Council took a
short recess. The meeting was reconvened at 8:39 P.M.
Fahey suggested the Council schedule a workshop meeting
to discuss the Comp Plan update and the Planner~s
recommendations for finalizinq the Plan. Council
suggested the Planning Commission also be invited to
attend the workshop if they so choose to provide their
input. It was the consensus of the Council to schedule
the workshop for Wednesday, March 27th, at 6:00 P.M. at
City Hall.
13
