MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 28, 1996 <br />with the area. <br />Mr. Morelan introduced the following ordinance and <br />moved its adoption: <br />ORDINANCE NO. 434 - AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE <br />N0. 383, ESTABLISHING A MORATORIUM, AND REPEALING <br />ORDINANCE N0. 405, EXTENDING A MORATORIUM <br />The foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by Fahey. <br />Ayes (5) Morelan, Fahey, Pedersen, Scalze, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). Ordinance declared adopted. <br />REPEAL 1~ City staff recommended repeal of the City's 1% <br />GAMBLING Gambling Enforcement Tax effective with February <br />ENFORCEMENT reports. Staff reported there is a balance in the 1% <br />TAX Fund. This balance should be spent down, and the tax <br />imposed again at such time as necessary. <br />Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 96-2-51 - REPEALING THE CITY~S 1% <br />GAMBLING ENFORCEMENT TAX EFFECTIVE WITH FEBRUARY, 1996 <br />REPORTS BASED ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF CITY STAFF <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) Morelan, Scalze, LaValle, Pedersen, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted <br />CITY HALL Council reviewed quotes for construction of a City <br />ID SIGN Hall identification sign. The low quote was received <br />from Monette Construction in the amount of $11,500. <br />Fahey reported the Community Pride Committee has <br />recommended the Council award the low quote and proceed <br />with installation of the sign. <br />LaValle expressed concern with the $11,500 cost, and <br />suggested construction of the sign be a community <br />project. LaValle stated he could support a City Hall <br />identification sign if the cost were in the $2,000 to <br />$3,00o range. LaValle suggested the City invite local <br />businesses and contractors in the community to donate <br />time and materials to the project. LaValle stated the <br />project could involve community involvement, and those <br />who participate would be recognized for their efforts. <br />16 <br />
