MINiITES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 13, 1996
raised as well as results of an evaluation by the
Minnesota Historical Society.
Scalze suggested the City Administrator communicate the
questions raise to the Aistorical Society and ask for a
presentation to the Council.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 96-3-62 - TABLING ACTION ON THE
PROPOSALS FOR A FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR THE CITY CENTER
ADDITION, AND CALLING A WORKSHOP FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL
10, 1996 AT 6:00 P.M. TO DISCUSS THE MIS5ION OF THE
LITTLE CANADA HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (4) LaValle, Morelan, Pedersen, Scalze.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
SPOONER The City Administrator reported that four proposals
PARK have been received from architects for design
SHELTER services for the Spooner Park Shelter project. The
Administrator reported the low proposal was received
£rom RVK Architects, the firm which designed the
Pioneer Park building and warming house at Roseville
Area Middle School.
Pedersen felt the low bid of $9,400 seemed like a lot
of money for the design of a picnic shelter. Pedersen
asked if there were alternative ways to do the design,
like purchasing stock plans.
The City Administrator suggested there could be options
to explore, such as City Staff supervising the project.
Staff could discuss this with RVK Architects, or try to
find someone who has designed a building the City likes
and try to purchase those plans.
Pedersen suggested another option would be to consult
with a contractor or draftsman who might be able to
come up with an acceptable proposal.
LaValle pointed out that the RVK Architects proposal
was for 157 hours of project time. LaValle felt this
was a lot of time for a project this size.
Morelan felt l00 of project costs was not out of line
for architectural fees.
5
