MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 27, 1996
located just south of Little Canada Mall facing Viking
Drive and Highway 36.
Scalze pointed out that auto body is only allowed in
Industrial Zoning. There is no Industrial Zoning along
Country Drive.
Morelan indicated that he would not be opposed to
looking at such an proposal, but pointed out it would
require a rezoning and text amendment.
The Planner pointed out that the Council previously had
a£avorable reaction to the concept of a tire or
battery store on Viking Drive. However, such a use
would require a rezoning to B-2.
Scalze pointed out that there are 9 body shops in the
City and all were required to locate in Industrial
areas. Scalze questioned why the City would do a text
amendment to allow ABRA to locating on Viking Drive.
Fahey agreed this would be spot zoning and would give
ABRA an advantage that other body shops in the City
have not had Fahey stated that he would not be in
favor of considering such a proposal.
Pedersen pointed out that other body shops in the City
are located in Industrial areas. However, other body
shops are not located in the same type of building that
ABRA has.
OLD FIRE Paul Finsness, Finsness Architects, appeared before the
STATION Council and reported that his construction cost
RENOVATION estimate for the old fire station renovation is
$81,388.
